When an individual is first employed by the University, the employee and the department must complete a Form I-9 (employee) or Non-Employee Information Form (NEEPIF for non-employees). On each form a status indication of U.S. citizen, permanent resident or someone who is authorized to work in the U.S is required. If the employee indicates that he or she is “an alien authorized to work,” that employee is considered a foreign national and must comply with Washington University procedures for foreign nationals.
